Is the nose can contribute to weight gain?
This may sound a bit strange or even might not make sense . But based on a study reported from huffingtonpost.com mentioned that the nose can contribute to weight gain even significantly .
As we know that the nose is an important organ possessed by humans to breathe . Air is drawn in, filtered , moistened , and warmed by the tissue that lines the nasal cavity called turbinates . That's respiratory system that we experience all the time , including while sleeping .
But there are times when we sleep breathing disorder called sleep apnea . Sleep apnea often keep us awake during sleep . As a result of this disease will interfere with the quality of our sleep .
Disrupted sleep quality will have a direct impact on weight gain because it would disrupt the balance of the brain that regulates hormones control hunger and appetite . If we messed up sleep , the hormones will be messed up so we can not control the appetite . As a result, weight will go up .
Maybe the nose does not have a significant role in weight gain . But breathing is interrupted during sleep will reduce the quality of our sleep . This disorder that ultimately have an impact on weight gain .
In addition to causing weight gain , sleep apnea continues in the long term will lead to diabetes , depression , heart attack , and stroke .
