Afghan commando special forces defected to the rebels
An Afghan special forces commando who has trained the United States today is said to have defected to a rebel group to take an armored car full of weapons and ammunition in Kunar province , east of Afghanistan .
" He left the district headquarters and drove to his residence to join the Hezb - i - Islami , " said Kunar provincial governor , Shuja - Ul Mulk Jalala , referring to a rebel group that fought alongside the Taliban militants , as reported by the site asiaone.com on Monday ( 21/10 ) .
Museeb Khan was an officer in a special forces unit assigned to conduct operations against the rebels who waged a guerrilla war against the US-led NATO forces and the Kabul government .
The defection would be a blow to the development of special forces in Afghanistan when they were on a mission to the pinnacle of elite American soldiers ahead of the withdrawal of NATO coalition forces by the end of next year .
Jalala say a hunter has been assigned to find Khan , who is also blurred by bringing some unknown military equipment .
Spokesman for Hezb - i - Islami , Zubair Sediqi , acknowledged that Khan has been associated with it before the defection . However , he did not give further details .
