Famous British band Coldplay got into the media spotlight when two years ago they released a music video titled " Freedom for Palestine " on the social media website Facebook .
Palestinian support for the campaign was also supported by the Israelis who joined the opposition Committee Destruction of the Jewish Home and Justice for Palestine , as reported by the Jerusalem Post .
The song itself was sung by a group calling themselves OneWorld consisting of a collection of musicians , artists , performers , charity fundraisers to provide awareness of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land for the cause of poverty and human rights violations .
The song " Freedom for Palestine " was released on July 3, 2011 .
When the video was released directly favored by 3,500 Facebook users in six hours .
Although not involved in the production process , Coldplay torn into the media spotlight because of Israel and the Jewish people displaying the video on their Facebook page .
In an email to The Jerusalem Post , the media OneWorld Paul Collins expressed delight over the support Coldplay .
" We are happy that Coldplay news to their fans about this song and I hope it can make a difference , " said Collins .
The song itself called for oversight of security forces in the West Bank removed , upholding human rights and justice for all .
Most fans of the band Colplay support action for Palestinian independence . But others criticized .
" Coldplay should stay focused on the music , " said a fan on facebook .
The comments on the video on Facebook and even had the lead to personal attacks among fans .
In the week since it was launched in the YouTube video has been seen by 21 thousand times .
