This is The Reason for Not Underestimate Indonesia in Technology
Indonesia is a fascinating country . The capital , Jakarta , is one of the cities with the largest social media users throughout the world . McKinsey believes in his review that the country is on track to become the seventh largest economy in the world in 2030 , placing it ahead of countries that currently more advanced in terms of the economy , such as the UK and Germany .
Indonesia is also the third largest democratic country that also held elections for parliament and president of the council . While many people choose to live in more developed countries , such as America or Australia , you should be seriously considering to build a business in Indonesia.
The thought was echoed by many tech entrepreneurs , especially those who have acquired his title abroad . I talked to Adrian Li an MBA from Stanford University and Kevin Aluwi a scholar from the University of Southern California about their reasons for betting in Indonesia , not the other Western countries .
This is what I get from them :
Indonesia became a driver of business in 2020
First of all , in terms of the macro economy , Indonesia is awesome . Both Adrian and Kevin stated that the country's economy has been growing consistently for five to six percent in the last two decades . So , basically Indonesia is a developing country with a stable to start any kind of business .
Kevin added that the abundant natural resources in Indonesia which is the largest natural resource - 27 in the world in 2010 , is another factor that can ensure this stability . It should be noted that Indonesia is also one of the few countries that can survive the global financial crisis of late often occur .
But , even more important is the fact that a large target consumer base . According to the latest report from BCG Perspectives , middle-class and affluent consumers ( MAC ) in Indonesian people who are able to give the products are durable and household goods will grow at eight to nine million each year . From 2020 , there will be about 141 million ' MAC ' in this country . The same report argues , " At that time , the island of Java alone would have more ' MAC ' than the entire population of Thailand . Sumatra will have more ' MAC ' than the combined populations of Malaysia and Singapore . "
Interestingly , Indonesian internet penetration will grow to the level of a higher speed than expected growth ' MAC ' . The latest report from the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers ( APJII ) said that although the country has about 63 million Internet users in 2012 , this figure will grow rapidly to 139 million users or 50 percent penetration of the internet in 2015 . Thus , technology companies will have no problem when it comes to reaching out ' MAC ' is.
Are they willing to go shopping ? Kevin said , yes . More than half of GDP ( per capita income ) Indonesia come from domestic consumption .
There has been no serious rival
Second , Adrian believes that there is still a lot of open areas in Indonesia , especially for technology companies . In this country , technology is something that has the potential to be developed . He argues that the same is not true for the technology ecosystem in more developed countries such as America . There , you need more products and advanced technology in order to survive , but you do not need it here , because this time there is much more advanced competitors .
