Nuclear rocket for NASA to astronauts landed on Mars

NASA buat roket tenaga nuklir untuk daratkan astronot di Mars
One of the main ambitions is owned by NASA to land astronauts on Mars . However, it is very difficult to do with current technology .
This is why the space agency to fund research on nuclear fusion rockets latest technology , which can fly to Mars and back in just a few months .
Softpedia ( 4/11 ) , through NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts ( NIAC ) , NASA supports researchers from the University of Washington to develop this technology .
Led by researcher named John Slough , the team working on the development of a delivery system that will take astronauts to Mars in just 90 days .
While the technology that exists today , the shortest period of time for a trip to Mars is about 500 days . In addition , measurements are made with the Radiation Assessment Detector ( RAD ) instrument on NASA's Curiosity rover has demonstrated that astronauts would be exposed to much more radiation as a long journey , which will put their lives in danger .
In addition to the radiation problem , astronauts also had to deal with the medical problems associated with long-term exposure to micro gravity , such as muscle atrophy or thinning of the bone .
This is why the system developed by Slough and his team sounded so appealing to NASA . " Using existing rocket fuel ( today) , it's almost impossible for humans to explore farther from Earth . We hope to provide the energy source that is much more powerful that eventually can make interplanetary travel became commonplace , " said Slough on early 2013 .
Later advanced electric propulsion engines and rockets will be driven by nuclear fusion / fission seems to be the most logical option as the next step in the world of space flight in addition to chemical fuel that is used today .
Slough design will use the same process found in the core of the sun to propel spacecraft to Mars and back in 213 days .
Fusion design of the machine itself is currently being considered by the research team based on physical theories and methods that have been proven . To process their own tests have shown that it is possible to achieve nuclear fusion , as well as the main byproduct neutrons .
Propulsion experts believe that nuclear fusion rocket would be the most cost effective and efficient for transporting the crew astronauts to Mars and back within an acceptable time period .
However , the researchers also emphasized , at least it will take a little longer before the first prototype rocket ready for use .
NASA itself is currently planning to send and put an astronaut on the surface of Mars in the mid 2030s .
